Connecting to Becker Introduction
Cindy and Katie have summarized the Becker article at their wiki getyourgameon.
Becker, K. (2007). Digital game-based learning once removed: Teaching teachers. British journal of educational technology, 38(3), p. 478-488.
Selected portions of the research of Becker (2006) that directly connect to the research of Subramaniam (2007) are highlighted and discussed. Below is an introductory connection between Becker and Subramaniam that also relates to Asslin (2005). Other connections are separated by the mindset that they exemplify. Please click on the link in the sidebar to access each mindset connection.
Connections
Becker says, "Technology use by teachers is strongly influenced by their own attitudes towards that technology..." (p. 481) which Stephanie, Ronda and Elizabeth brought up in their wiki which discussed the research of Asslin. I would say that a mindset affects attitude and vice versa. If you see learning as a journey, where teacher is both facilitator and guide, and has a mutual investment with the student in meeting lesson objectives, than the teacher will have a positive mindset and attitude towards the integration of computer technology into classroom teaching.
